About Me

Before I ever understood what it meant to ride, I already belonged in the saddle.
At just three years old, I sat on my grandpa’s pony, Rusty — small hands, big dreams, and a heart that somehow already knew horses would be part of my story forever. My connection to horses may have started even earlier than that. My mother once went on a trail ride while she was pregnant with me — probably not her best idea — and during the ride, she fell off and her foot got caught in the stirrup. The horse dragged her all the way back to the barn. I’ve often joked that horses were beaten into me before I was even born.
When I was 10, life placed me exactly where I needed to be. My dad built our home next to a hunter-jumper barn, and from that point on, I lived and breathed horses. I worked after school, on weekends — whenever I could — just for the chance to ride. I wasn’t chasing ribbons. I was chasing something deeper, even if I didn’t have the words for it yet.
At 14, I met the horse who would change everything — ERYAL, a beautiful Arabian mare who became my partner, my teacher, and my heart. With her, I explored dressage, saddleseat, and miles of open trail. Sometimes it was just the two of us, riding out into the quiet, building a connection that felt bigger than anything I had been taught.
But even then… something was missing.
In my 20s, I continued learning — western pleasure, gymkhana, new disciplines, new skills. I did everything “right.” I followed the methods I had been taught. Stronger bits. Sharper cues. More control.
And yet, deep down, I knew:
This wasn’t the relationship I was looking for.
Because the dream I carried wasn’t about control.
It was about connection.
I dreamed of riding off into the sunset — bareback and bridleless — just me and my horse, moving together as one. No force. No resistance. Just trust.
For years, that dream felt out of reach.
Until I was 29.
At a small event at the Tampa Fairgrounds, I saw something I had never seen before — a demonstration of Natural Horsemanship. A cowboy, riding with quiet confidence, did something I will never forget.
He reached down, removed his bridle, and tossed it to the side.
There was nothing on that horse’s head. Nothing to hold. Nothing to force. Nothing to control.
And yet… the horse stayed with him.
They moved together as if nothing had changed — soft, willing, completely connected. The man still had full control, but it wasn’t coming from equipment.
It was coming from the relationship.
In that moment, everything shifted.
What I witnessed wasn’t just training… it was communication. It was softness, understanding, and partnership.
It was everything I had been searching for.
And I realized something that changed me:
I didn’t yet have that with my horses — but I could.
From that day forward, I chose a different path.
For the past 25 years, I’ve dedicated my life to learning, living, and teaching Natural Horsemanship. I’ve studied with respected trainers, but more importantly, I’ve learned from the horses themselves — listening, adapting, and building a philosophy rooted in trust and feel.
And somewhere along the way…
I found that dream.
Not just the image of it — but the truth behind it.
The quiet connection.
The unspoken understanding.
The partnership that doesn’t need force.
Today, I believe this work is more than horsemanship — it’s a calling. A path God has led me down, one that I’m honored to walk every day alongside both horses and the people who love them.
Because in the end, it’s not about making horses do something.
It’s about becoming someone your horse wants to be with.
